Salford Metal Finishing: Zinc Plating Specialists
About Zinc Plating – Barrel
Zinc plating applies a thin coating of zinc to metal objects, giving them a layer of protection from the surrounding environment. The process of coating smaller objects is referred to as barrel plating. This zinc electroplating provides a coating that works as an effective barrier against the effects of wear and helps prevent corrosion and abrasion. Due to the high level of protection it provides at low thicknesses, it is an ideal electroplating solution for small components such as machined screws and threaded parts.
Our Barrel Plating Capabilities:
3 fully automated barrel lines
3 forms of drying systems allowing us to process and handle various types and complex parts.
Variety of passivate and top coat systems on line/offered to meet each customer's specific requirements.
It is a perfect option for large quantities due to the low cost per unit and can lengthen the lifespan of steel products for up to thirty years.

About Zinc Nickel Plating
Zinc-nickel is a high-performance coating that provides exceptional corrosion protection in harsh environments. The coating involves the co-electrodeposition of Zinc and Nickel to a component. By doing so, this increases the sacrificial protection to the underlying iron or steel. The addition of 12-15% by weight of Nickel dramatically improves the performance of a Zinc Nickel finish over the more common Zinc or Zinc Iron systems.
Standards for zinc-nickel plating typically require un-passivated parts coated with 10µm of zinc-nickel to withstand 500 hours or more of neutral salt spray testing before red corrosion. With the inclusion of various top coats and sealers, corrosion resistance levels can greatly be improved, reaching performance levels well in excess 1000 hours of neutral salt spray.
About Zinc Plating – Rack
Zinc plating provides a high-quality, durable finish to steel, brass, and copper parts. The service for larger, delicate, or complex parts is known as zinc rack plating and is perfect for items that cannot be finished by barrel plating. The zinc coating protects the parts from the effects of wear, as well as helping prevent corrosion and abrasion. This will extend the life of the metal part, in some cases for up to thirty years. Rack plating provides a uniform and aesthetically pleasing finish to your larger metal objects.
Our Rack Plating Capabilities:
Handling fabrications of up to 5 metres
Lift capacity of 350kg per item
No mechanical damage to items
